How should we like it were stars to burn
With a passion for us we could not return?
If equal affection cannot be,
Let the more loving one be me.
- W.H. Auden, "The More Loving One"
Sentimental optimistic primate little thing, senseless opportunities quit belittling. Not the birds could cheer as loudly, as the beating of this heart, struck upon a reef -- torn and strayed apart.
Ermn...we do know life should never be compromised. So, we only sit back, waiting for the smallest surprise. But, we know it won't come. Quite simply, because of what we have done.
Perhaps, the toughest lesson is to embrace the consequences of our decision made. Will this ever stop haunting me, I wonder.
