It was almost 4 pm in Reading, the perfect hour for the sun's date with dusk. You glanced to the right and fixed your eyes out the window. You were immediately drawn to the sunset. It radiated colours weary from a long day: deep maroon, devious red, scorching orange, and jealous mauve. The combination burned through the surface of your eyes. It was almost as if the sunset had aged and was slowly dying before it collapsed over the horizon. As we increased in speed and altitude, the sunset grew larger until a point you could no longer comprehend its length. Strange, you knew then.
Sighing, you rested your head with Mraz preaching on living high in the background, and faced the tranquillity of the sunset. Every thought and concern had been alleviated by the view and added to the colours dancing on the crest of the newborn evening sky. But, in no time, your window was already masked by the overpowering blackness of night. English weather - you blamed.
You peered out the window again: the frigid glass - the only thing separating you from the height of the sky. You tried to find some reassurance from the night. It has had been a while - had you felt such an overwhelming sense of misdirection and uncertainty yet packed in happiness. For the first time, you were oblivious to the course and speed we were travelling.
Hour after hour, you stared out the window, occasionally. The setting was enough to keep your mind in a state of wonder. Only the faint light of the moon reminded that you were, indeed, in Reading.

For the first time in three years or more, Jie went back for Christmas. This time - without me at home. :( And yes, self-sufficiency, after all, isn't my cup of tea. Not at all. I miss them. I miss you.
But, fret not. Hola, Spain. Nine days in three cities - Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia.
